If it is true that the destinies of Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro have mirrored each other for years, 2025 has the potential to mark a clear split between the futures of both. Trump and Bolsonaro were elected presidents of the United States and Brazil, respectively in 2016 and 2018, with right-wing populist agendas. They lost their reelection bids in 2020 and 2022, but did not accept the result. Now, as the United States and Brazil recall the two iconic attacks, Trump is about to retake the White House and practically free from legal constraints. Bolsonaro, on the other hand, is ineligible and a few weeks ago was formally indicted by the Federal Police (PF) for alleged involvement in a coup plot, which culminated in the acts of that day, the 8th, in Brasília.
