If you wanted a luxury German saloon without the luxury price tag, you’d probably consider buying a used car… But what about a used car that’s over 20 years old? Mat got his hands on an Audi A4, a BMW 3 Series and an early 2000s Mercedes C-Class to see if the classic saloon was worth it. And of course, he’s going to race them! First up is the Audi A4. It’s done 129,000 miles and has a 2.0-litre inline-four petrol engine producing 130bhp and 195Nm. That power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Next up is the Mercedes C180. It’s done 126,000 miles and has a 1.8-litre supercharged inline-four engine producing 141bhp and 220Nm. That power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Finally, we have the BMW 318i. It’s covered 88,000 miles and has a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine that produces 140bhp and 200Nm.
