On April 27, 2024, Björn Höcke, state chairman of the AfD Thuringia, presented the state budget for 2025 at the state party conference in Pfiffelbach. In his speech, he emphasized the need for a change of course in asylum policy and announced a comprehensive deportation initiative for 2025. He also called for the abolition of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and a reduction in public broadcasting. WELT Höcke criticized the current asylum policy and advocated an asylum law that is limited exclusively to those politically persecuted. He announced that the AfD, in government responsibility, would launch a major deportation initiative in 2025. WELT Another focus of his speech was the reform of public broadcasting.
