Budapest was born in 1873 by the union of 3 districts. For his 150th birthday, the Animatiqua film studio pays tribute to him with a film about the capital, in which they processed more than 100 old photographs, over thousands of working hours, during which tens of thousands of gray hairs were born... cityscapes. I wonder how people lived in Hungary before the wars and socialism, what street and life scenes were typical of the capital. What could have been the works of art that have unfortunately disappeared among the buildings that are still standing today. That is why the Animatiqua film studio decided to bring old photos and postcards to life. The processed images span approximately one hundred years, from the middle of the 19th century to the Second World War. This movie, however, is still going on. Since many locations could not be included due to the limited resources of the studio, and some could not be left out, the film's director András Kondacs decided that the film would be expanded and that the longer version that was being prepared would be launched in English at film festivals. Their undisclosed goal is to arouse the interest of the Hungarian as well as the international audience in the beautiful built heritage of Budapest's past and present. According to the director, since it's about this beautiful city, they can't stop there either, and they're also making an additional film about the Hungarian capital, the script of which is currently being worked on. We hope we managed to get you in the mood for a city walk reminiscent of the past.
