The human farmer has been part of the Central European landscape for 10,000 years. Although today in many ways our influence on the landscape is rather negative, with reasonable management, inspired by the activities of our ancestors, we can maintain it in a biologically valuable form. The mosaic-like landscape, full of flowery meadows, orchards and bordered fields, is not only aesthetically impressive but especially full of life.
