The Sternenbrücke Hamburg is one of 19 children's hospices in Germany that care for children with a life-shortening illness. This means that children for whom there is no hope of a cure receive appropriate care from trained nurses and are accompanied until their death. Their families are also relieved of the often intensive care of the seriously ill children and can thus recover and recharge their batteries in the children's hospice. The bereavement support in the children's hospice is also an important support for the families through the difficult times, before and after death. But what does everyday life look like in a children's hospice? PULS reporter Ariane Alter is working for three days at the Sternenbrücke children's hospice in Hamburg. Together with nurse Nadine, she looks after the two children Laura and Florian and does everything that comes up in the children's hospice: from playing to changing diapers, there are many tasks involved in caring for the children in the hospice. Ari notices that, contrary to expectations, the children's hospice is not just a place of death, but also a place of life for the children.
