After many requests from you, I'm finally doing my top 5 Brazilian male melismas! I did it a little differently than when I did international melismas... a historical record, and then I chose people who, in my opinion, were very important for the advancement and popularization of melisma in Brazil. As I mention in the video, the RELEVANCE aspect, so important in international videos, is a little different here because Brazilian music hasn't been as impacted by this embellishing element as it has been in the US, for example... it's true that especially in pagode there are several singers with a really cool ability to do melismas, but they don't always find (or manage to create) musical contexts in which it really makes a difference and/or is essential for the existence of that person's music and/or career. we have melismas by ed motta, mauro henrique, ton carfi (of course), jhour bayron by beresix and a bonus that you will only see if you watch the video... lol by the way, at the end of the video I ask for your help to try to help me put together the top 5 brazilian female melismas... I'm having a lot of difficulty... not because there aren't MANY incredible women who know how to make incredible melismas, but I'm having difficulty finding MUSICAL CONTEXTS (and not melisma videos) in SONGS in which that melisma is fundamental to help DEFINE the music and even the career/work of those women; like: without that melisma that song or that singer doesn't exist... kind of like the reason why beyoncé didn't make it into my top 5 international female melismas... anyway... I'll wait for you in the comments!
