Low Beskids, Wysowa Zdrój, tourist attractions, health resorts The town of Wysowa Zdrój, with an area of approx. 20 km², which is part of the Uście Gorlickie Commune, is a health resort village located in the Gorlice district, in the southwestern, highest part of the Low Beskids. The charm of this town is added by the Ropa River valley, with a crescent of mountain ranges of the southwestern part of the Low Beskids, surrounding Wysowa on three sides. On a daily basis, approx. 700 residents live in this mountain health resort. Wysowa Zdrój, formerly a settlement, was founded in the second half of the 14th century under Magdeburg law. The first historical records about the places where the Wysowa health resort is currently located come from the 16th century. At that time, the town was a dynamically developing merchant settlement, advantageously located on the trade route leading through the Carpathians to Hungary. The special importance of Wysowa for trade is associated with the warehouses of Hungarian wines, transported along the aforementioned route by merchants from Armenia and Greece to the east. The village also served as a border town, and until the mid-19th century there was a customs collection point here. At the same time, around the mid-18th century, attention began to be paid to the health-promoting effects of the mineral waters found in Wysowa. In 1808, the first bathrooms for bathing in mineral water and a small, eight-room sanatorium were built.
