Tawhidi of names and attributes means to believe/believe with certainty that the most beautiful names and the most sublime attributes belong to Allah. He has all the perfect attributes and is free from all kinds of deficient attributes. He is distinguished from all beings and is unique with this feature. The essential attributes of Allah are the attributes that are permanent in the essence of Allah. The active attributes of Allah are the attributes that do not always exist and are dependent on the will of Allah. Allah's (swt) istiwa, laughing, tormenting, etc. Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah: They know their Lord by the attributes mentioned in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. They describe Him with the attributes with which He describes His own being. They do not take words out of context and change their meanings. They do not deviate to ilhād (inclination towards the truth) in His names and verses. They accept the information that Allah Almighty has given about Himself without deviating to any representation, ta'til (qualification), ta'til and distortion. Ilhad: It means inclining towards and deviating from the truth. Ta'til, ta'til and representation are included in this. Ta'til: It means not accepting the attributes of Allah or accepting some and not accepting others. Tamrif: It means changing the texts in terms of wording or meaning, taking it away from its apparent (obvious) meaning and drawing it to the meaning indicated by only a weak possibility. Every distortion is also a holiday, but not every holiday is a distortion. Tekyif: It is to explain how the natures of the attributes are. Tathsil: It is to accept that something is the same by claiming that it is similar to another in every way. The rule and method of Ahlus Sunnah in the unification of names and attributes: “There is nothing like Him. He is As-Sami' (the Hearer and the Answerer of prayers), Al-Basir (the All-Seeing).” (42/Shura, 11) There have been sects that have attempted to interpret/distort/deny many of Allah's (swt) attributes with the verse “There is nothing like Him.” While trying to avoid tasbih (likening Allah to His servants), they have fallen into a greater problem of belief, namely distortion and denial. After Allah (swt) declared that nothing resembles Him, that there is no equal or like Him, He said: “He is the Hearer, the Seeer.” Based on this, if we say: “Man has the attribute of seeing. And Allah sees,” and take the verse literally, we will have likened Allah (swt) to man. Or, if we say: “Eyes are needed to see. And Allah sees,” we will have indirectly said that He is an organ.” The approach is as absurd and far from reality as denying Allah’s (swt) attributes, such as istiwa and hand, which are confirmed by the Quran and the authentic Sunnah, with similar justifications and in order to avoid dhikr. Because the attributes of Allah (swt) are in a form befitting His glory, grandeur, greatness and uniqueness. We believe in what He (swt) has informed us and we do not deny the quality of His attributes by reasoning with rational questions. “To Allah belong the most beautiful names. (So) call on Him by them and leave those who deviate from His names to themselves. They will see the reward of what they did.” (7/A’raf, 180) “Say: “Do you know better or Allah?” (2/Baqarah, 140) “Do not set forth examples for Allah. Allah knows, and you do not know.” (16/Nahl, 74) “He is the Before (without a beginning), the After (without a future), the Az-Zahir (above all things and whose proofs are clear), the Batin (whose reality the mind cannot fully grasp), and He is the Knower of all things.” (57/Al-Hadid, 3) Does He not know His creation? He is Al-Latif, Al-Khabir (the Possessor of Grace and Benevolence, the One who penetrates into the smallest things with His knowledge).
