Her role as Rosa in La trinchera infinita, by Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño and José Mari Goenaga, earned Belén Cuesta the Goya for Best Leading Actress at the 2020 Awards. She received it in her hometown, Málaga, where it is her third nomination for the awards. On stage, she remembered the directors “for giving me this wonderful character, for giving me the role of my life” and her co-star, Antonio de la Torre “because my Rosa without your Higinio would not have been the same”. The performers Bárbara Lennie, Maribel Verdú, Nora Navas and Laia Marull; who won the statuette in this category in 2015, 2008 and 2013, 2011 and 2004, respectively; are in charge of announcing the winner. The 34th Goya Awards gala was held on January 25 at the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace in Malaga.
