Hey guys! How are things going? Everything is going well here! Today's video will be very different! You'll be watching me perform maintenance on the QGBT of a condominium with more than 9 floors. And there are two details: besides having a start and end time, it was done at dawn. Well, actually, you and I will be watching this maintenance, since it was carried out by our friend Rafa, from Amperlus, and his partner Rubens, from Energi-ar. And why did I go to watch this maintenance? Precisely to bring you some new and very different content. So I invite you to watch this CRAZY IDEA until the end, because today's video is all good! It's like Rafa said, right guys, CEMIG, which is the energy concessionaire here in BH, was going to turn off the power to this condominium at 11:00 p.m. And so as not to work in the dark, the team came prepared with a generator... in addition, we will get to know the circuit breakers that will replace the fuse switches... follow along with me... Guys, take a look at this panel. Notice the busbar that was cut to make it fit in the circuit breaker, as well as the pieces of rust that were falling off the panel, almost causing a short circuit between the phases... it really needed some intervention... Well, now I'll let Rafa explain how the de-energization procedure will be done, before the utility company turns off the power to the building. It's your turn, Rafa... With the apartment loads turned off, now it's time to turn off the condominium load and then turn off the main switch for the entire building. But first, you need to put on the appropriate work clothes, as stated in item 10.2.9.2 of NR-10. Although this service panel also has a fuse switch, it will not be changed now. It will be done later by the condominium. Now one last check to verify that all the loads are turned off so that the utility company can safely turn them off. Now that the installation is de-energized, it’s time to start getting down to work… but first, one last check to make sure there’s no power coming in… Some of you may be wondering: “Ooo Brener, what about temporary grounding? NR10 says it’s mandatory to do it…” In fact, if we look at NR10 we’ll see that item 10.5.1 says that “Only electrical installations that have been released for work, through appropriate procedures, will be considered de-energized”. And temporary grounding is among these procedures. However, item 10.5.3 says that “The measures contained in the paragraphs presented in the previous items may be changed, replaced, expanded or eliminated, depending on the peculiarities of each situation, by a legally qualified and authorized professional, as long as the same level of safety originally recommended is maintained”. Both Rafa and Rubens are legally qualified and authorized professionals, and since the utility company had disconnected the power directly from the transformer, it was the company that would reconnect it only after an inspection, there was no need, since the facility does not have an emergency generator or a solar system. That's why it was not necessary to do the temporary grounding. And as you can see, guys, this is not going to be an easy task, there is a lot of work ahead... So, let's continue. And so the team is dismantling and preparing the panel to receive the upgrades... notice that the panel is in pretty bad shape... but the condominium decided to make a palliative, so we're going to do it the best way... Now I'm going to show you a technical resource that Rafa made to improvise a bench vise... check it out. Guys, look at the amount of rust that was removed from this QGBT, and look how much cleaner it is now, it looks really good, but it will still get much better. The condominium manager bought and provided Rafa with a product that looks like rubber, but is liquid, so they could apply it before painting. To get ahead of the game, while the people were waiting for the liquid rubber to dry, they were already crimping the ends of the cables and making the harnesses that will replace some of the busbars that will not be used.
