Edwin shows us how to efficiently combat the varroa mite using the drug Varromed. This is one of the methods recommended by the FAVV for 2022. More information can be found here: https://www.favv-afsca.be/bijenteelt/... -------------------- After consultation with Dr. Wim Reybroeck, senior scientist-lab manager at ILVO (Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Research) and the company Beevital, producer of Varromed, we advise against direct feeding with sugar water after a Varromed treatment. An abundant addition of food in the form of syrup increases the humidity inside the hive, which can make the treatment less effective. It is better to wait a few days before filling the feeders. Feeding with sugar dough has no adverse effect.
