Bechterew's disease and axial spondylitis: innovative treatment. Seniprutug. Bechterew's disease (ankylosing spondylitis) is a chronic disease in which the human immune system attacks its own tissues. This leads to damage to the musculoskeletal system, mainly the spine and ligaments. Rheumatologist at the St. Petersburg State University Clinic Elizaveta Vasilenko reported on the results of treating the first patient in Russia who received therapy with Seniprutug. The innovative drug was developed by Russian scientists. What distinguishes it from other drugs is that it acts at the molecular level and is aimed at suppressing autoimmune reactions involved in the pathogenesis of joint diseases. The treatment was carried out at the St. Petersburg State University Clinic, and after the administration of the drug, doctors expect not only regression of all the main symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis, but also improvement in the function of the damaged joints, as well as stopping the progression of the disease.
