NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk as a substitute for medical advice. Claims in this talk about breathing, childhood development, and disease remain on ongoing field of study. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t... At birth, the skull is almost fully developed, Johan NOUWEN explains. The lower part of the face is not at all. Its growth will depend on many details, from breathing through the nose, to the position of the tongue, to the closing of the mouth. The appearance and health of the child, and of the adult to come, will depend on its proper development. Discover how the face grows. Understand why large tonsils, adenoids, allergic rhinitis, a blocked nose, a tight tongue tie or any other small grain of sand can disrupt everything. Tooth growth problems, sad eyes, sleep disorders and their procession of complications, snoring, nightmares, obesity, hypertension, diabetes will seem logical to you and above all avoidable. Observe the natural growth of teeth and the construction of the smile to avoid orthodontics. Learn to monitor the proper progress of this alchemy to make this little face a beautiful, fulfilled face and contribute to the physical and mental health of the child and then the adult. You will want to tell everyone about it! Johan Nouwen is a doctor and father of three children. His training and professional practice have allowed him to help his children grow up harmoniously. He treats more specifically children who breathe poorly, who snore, sleep poorly, have a tight tongue tie, and treats them energetically to allow them to grow well. He regularly gives courses on the subject and raises awareness among healthcare staff about the importance of breathing in facial growth. He intends to make it a public health issue.
