Melissa* does not remember exactly when she experienced domestic violence for the first time; she was probably around eight years old. She is afraid of further beatings from her mother, but does not dare to get help. At some point she can't take it anymore. She runs away and builds a whole new life for herself. But Melissa still keeps in touch with her family - even though her parents know next to nothing about her new life. Melissa tells us her story of helplessness and despair, of beatings and fear. A story in which home sometimes means love and closeness - but time and again also becomes a danger. *Name changed, voice changed in the film/podcast You can find all the films on the question "Do we have to love our parents?" in our YouTube playlist: • Do we have to love our parents? Why do we let animals suffer? Do we drink too much? Or: What does porn do to us? Our team and we are interested in questions that have something directly to do with our lives, but also topics that are important to all of us and are often only discussed superficially. We look for answers to these questions, week after week - openly, honestly and independently. To do this, we do not meet experts, but are there: at the slaughterhouse, at the swinger party, while proselytizing in the pedestrian zone. And because we want to get to know as many perspectives as possible in our search, a question always occupies us for several weeks. In the end, we want to give an answer, even if that is not easy for us. With each video - but especially in the discussions with you - we come a little closer to an answer to the big, tricky questions.
