The Beast of Gévaudan is not a myth, and its many victims demand better than the bad thriller to which many confine it. It is with this observation in mind that Pierric Guittaut set out to track it down ten years ago. A novelist noted for his rural thrillers, Pierric Guittaut is also a hunter and black powder shooter, passionate about history. After several stays in Margeride, the author delivers the most comprehensive investigation ever conducted on the subject: complete analysis of the archive collection, shooting reconstructions, anatomical comparisons. All the suspects are reviewed. Challenging preconceived ideas, the conclusions of this investigation are unprecedented and allow us to re-appropriate an entire part of our rural history that has fallen into oblivion. By crossing the borders, the reader will even find himself launched on the trail of an authentic specimen of the Beast of Gévaudan, which has been waiting for several decades in the discretion of a Nature museum for its illustrious lineage to be (re)discovered. 250 years after the end of the Beast of Gévaudan affair, Pierric Guittaut finally gives us the keys to understanding this enigma that was not one...
