They are a source of peace for us in the fast of Saint Christmas, consolation for those alienated from the village of childhood and the parental home. But more importantly, they are a testimony to the faith of the Romanians, who for almost 2000 years have been announcing the Savior's birth, year after year, from gate to gate. Much has changed, however, and the carol wants to be forgotten, erased from the Romanian soul, precisely because it gives us identity and because it raises a prayer to Heaven! I loved Christmas as a little child, and I promised myself that I would never let our carols die out. We have so much folklore wealth that it would have been impossible for me to gather them all together. But those that I have collected, or composed, know that we give them to you from the heart! It was a huge job, but God gave me wonderful friends, with whom I was able to complete this project.
