My guest today is Barbara Bleisch. Barbara is a philosopher, author and presenter of “Sternstunde Philosophie”. She has been holding philosophical discussions with people from contemporary history for almost 15 years. These include Herbert Grönemeyer, Jane Goodall and Noam Chomsky. On my summer holiday this year I read her book “Mitte des Lebens” (Middle of Life), in which she deals philosophically with life goals and horizons, questions the regret of life decisions and counters the cliché of the midlife crisis. I wanted to know from her why she thinks our middle years are the best years, what brought her to philosophy and what she has personally taken away from the many discussions over the last 14 years. We talk about the importance of guilt in interpersonal relationships, about vertical understanding of time and about philosophy as an art of living.
