Bang Khun Phrom Palace is considered one of the most beautiful palaces in Thailand. It is located on Samsen Road, on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. Construction began during the reign of King Chulalongkorn to serve as the residence of His Royal Highness Prince Paribatra Sukhumphan, Prince of Nakhon Sawan. The foundation digging ceremony was held in 1901 and the construction was completed in 1906. Prince Paribatra’s Bang Khun Phrom Palace is very famous for promoting education, so much so that it is also known as Bang Khun Phrom University. In addition to education, Bang Khun Phrom Palace is also very prominent in entertainment and music. When Prince Paribatra studied military studies in Germany, he saw an opera and orchestra performance and applied his knowledge of music to Thai music. He helped improve the standard of the Royal Thai Navy brass band and was the first person to compose Western-style songs in Siam. Therefore, he is considered the father of Thai pop songs.
