Balconies are among the most problematic components that today have to be sealed and covered with ceramic tiles. Not least the extreme thermal loads place high demands on the sealing, the laying mortar and the grouting material. If a balcony faces southwest, temperatures of around 70°C can develop on the surface of a dark tile in the afternoon. What happens when a storm front approaches and a rain shower falls? The sudden change in temperature causes the upper tile covering to shrink due to the cooling and the sealing layer underneath and the thin-bed mortar must absorb this movement. The video describes the entire process of a professional balcony renovation. From laying the screed to repairing any breaks to secure sealing, the video shows all the measures for preparing the subsurface. Finally, the safe laying of the tiles is shown.
