Sperm have amazing abilities to reach and fertilize an egg. But there are fewer and fewer sperm in men's sperm. Men from western countries have lost more than half of their sperm count in the last 40 years. Quarks is looking for the reasons for the decline in sperm count and the consequences for our society. Men in western industrialized nations produce 60 percent fewer sperm than they did 40 years ago. If the amount of sperm continues to decrease, this could endanger fertility. But what is the cause?
