"Agioupa" - Anestis Vlacho's first film. In 1954, the distinguished Greek-American director Grigoris (Greg) Tallas arrives in Greece, who searches through the various schools for a protagonist for his film "Agioupa", who had to meet the criteria of a scrawny country boy. He went through all the schools in the country. He saw countless disciples. He didn't like anyone. As soon as he saw Anestis Vlachos, he concluded without a second thought. In the film, Ayupa, played by Anna Bratsou, is an orphaned and unruly village girl who sleeps in the fields preferring the company of birds. So she often falls victim to the rape of the villagers. A doctor (Mihalis Nikolinakos) who sympathizes with her, offers her shelter but Ayoupa leaves when she discovers that he loves another woman. Two villagers (Anestis Vlachos - Dinos Theodorelos) who want to rape her, clash fiercely with each other and one is killed. The villagers consider her a witch and lynch her. Titled 'Bed of Grass', and dubbed into English, the film was released in the United States and England, where it was a notable success, hence the English subtitles on the video. It is noteworthy that during the period in which this particular film was shot and shown, as well as the one that followed in his filmography, "the girl in black" by Michalis Kakogiannis, the work accident that cost Anestis Vlachos his eye had not yet occurred, something that is is evident in the footage.
