This article will show you how to handle fall pruning when you're dealing with a neglected tree or branch. And not only that - I'll explain why now is the perfect time to take this important step. Why carry out autumn pruning? Autumn pruning has many advantages. One of the main ones is illumination and improvement of air circulation, which significantly reduces the risk of diseases. The tree is also preparing for the dormant season, and pruning during this period will allow it to overwinter better and concentrate its energy in the spring on the formation of flowers and fruits instead of excess branches. In addition, autumn pruning helps to limit lush growth, which means less work in the spring. How to properly cut a neglected branch? First, view the status of the branch. Look for overgrown shoots, damaged or dry parts. Slowly begin to remove excess shoots that take away energy from the tree, but do not bring benefit.
