The 8-speed Direct Shift transverse gearbox entered the big market in 2016 for testing on local Toyota Highlander and Sienna, and after testing and fine-tuning, it began to be installed en masse on Camry 2.5l and RAV4 and became known as UB80E in its front-wheel drive version. The gearbox is capricious, like its predecessors, to the level, temperature and transparency of the oil. The oil level and quality are checked every 40 thousand km at a temperature of +40ºС. The design provides three filler holes in different places of the housing for different car manufacturers in order to maximally facilitate access for filling oil during replacement. The change is made either by double partial replacement or by complete replacement. The oil level is checked by adding 200-300 grams of WS oil into the filler hole and then checking the oil level with the old oil flowing out through the overflow pipe at the bottom of the housing when the oil is heated to +40ºС. The need for an oil change or overhaul is assessed by the transparency of the flowing oil.
