Jiří z Dráchov was a Czech nobleman and knight from the South Bohemian village of Dráchov near Soběslav. The desire to learn new things beckoned Jiří to go abroad at a young age. And so, at the end of the 17th century, he traveled through Europe and was subsequently assigned to the Russian delegation that Tsar Peter and Ivan sent to China for business reasons. This long journey lasted almost three years. However, long before the Czech knight and traveler Jiří z Dráchov set off on his far-reaching journey into the world, fate threw his father, the monk Matěj, into the path.
