Today is the continuation of the tour from the previous video in ATIBAIA / SP. On this tour we went to the Cable Car, Lago do Major, Edmundo Zanoni Park and the Municipal Market. Atibaia is a city in the state of São Paulo. The inhabitants are called Atibaianos. The municipality extends over 478.5 km² and had 142,761 inhabitants in the last census. The population density is 298.4 inhabitants per km² in the territory of the municipality. Neighboring the municipalities of Jarinu, Bom Jesus dos Perdões and Bragança Paulista, Atibaia is located 18 km southwest of Bragança Paulista. Situated at an altitude of 803 meters, Atibaia has the following geographic coordinates: Latitude: 23° 7' 2'' South, Longitude: 46° 33' 1'' West. Atibaia is home to the Itapetinga State Park. The history of Atibaia sums up what it is today: a city of transition. Because it is located in the middle of the mountains, it was the route taken by the bandeirantes who left São Paulo in the 17th and 18th centuries to reach Minas Gerais and who made Atibaia a stopping point – the Atibaia River helped along the way. Today, Atibaia continues to be a city of passage. In other words, a city where many people who live in the capital have a house in the city to spend the weekends and holidays – only 65 km separate the two cities. Not to mention the countless tourists from the region who seek refuge in Atibaia to enjoy the mountain climate, the cuisine and the good hotels, inns and resorts. Around 140 thousand people live in the city. In addition to tourism, Atibaia stands out for its agricultural production and is today known as the city of flowers and strawberries. With the arrival of Japanese immigrants in the 1940s and 1950s, this production increased. Despite being one of the main flower producers in the country, don't think you'll find in the region all the abundance of flowers that we find in Holambra, for example – it's the fruit that is really the most popular, and Atibaia is the city that produces the most strawberries in the state. In 2022, the city won the title of National Strawberry Capital, and guess what the city's main festival is? The Flower and Strawberry Festival (better known simply as the Atibaia Strawberry Festival), which now reaches its 41st edition in 2023 and will be held between September 1st and 24th, always from Friday to Sunday and holidays. The cable car is another tourist attraction in the city, and it is usually busy on weekends. It operates from Wednesday to Friday from 12 pm to 6 pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 6 pm. It costs 15 reais one way (R$ 30 round trip). On a 550-meter route, it takes about 9 minutes to get from one side to the other, and it's nice to see the mountains that surround Atibaia and what's down below – leaving the highest point, we pass, for example, on top of Recanto Japonês. Oh, and I couldn't forget to mention the famous Atibaia sign, which is located right in this tourist part of the city, very close to the Japanese garden, cable car and next to the Convention Center parking lot. Edmundo Zanoni Park is the city's main park, where the Atibaia Strawberry Festival takes place every year in September – even without the party, you can see the frames where the flower and strawberry displays are made. With over 38 thousand m² of area, it has a playground area for children to play and a large lake with lots of greenery around it – and a tower in the middle of it that ends up being a photo spot for tourists. The park is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm, but there are two other spaces inside it that operate with other hours. The National History Museum has approximately 4,000 pieces, with a focus on the numerous stuffed animals. It is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 am to 4:45 pm, and from Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3:45 pm, but I warn you that the place is small and you can see everything in just a few minutes. The Artisan's Hall features pieces by several local artists and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission to both is free. We really enjoyed our visit and hope you enjoy it too!! Enjoy your stay!
