In 1968, the workshops of the transport department of the chemical fiber plant were re-equipped into a depot for 15 trolleybuses. Since June 30, 1969, in connection with the transfer to the Volga Territorial Transport Directorate, the trolleybus shop received the status of an independent enterprise and began to be called the trolleybus department. After the lock bridge was built, another route appeared in Balakovo: k/t "Cosmos" - chemical fiber plant. In connection with the growth of the population and industrial facilities of the city, in 1972 the rubber plant began to build a depot for 100 trolleybuses, which was put into operation in 1985. In 2009, the trolleybus fleet was updated, 25 new trolleybuses arrived, the oldest trolleybuses were written off, in 2020, 20 used trolleybuses were brought from Moscow.
