The opening of the trolleybus service took place on November 6, 1952. Passenger transportation is carried out by MUPP "Saratovgorelectrotrans". It is connected to the Engels system via a line on the Saratovsky Bridge, while from 2004 to 2021 both trolleybus systems were independent. (History 2020s): ◼Spring and autumn 2020 — 90 Trolza, BKM and SVARZ-MAZ trolleybuses arrive, decommissioned in Moscow due to the closure of the trolleybus system. ◼Spring-summer 2020 — Italian strike of drivers of the Kirov trolleybus depot, protesting against low wages, the need to work on faulty trolleybuses and against the transfer of the depot director to another position. An independent trade union of electric transport workers is created. ◼August 2020 — a significant increase in wages at the enterprise is announced. As a result, there was an outflow of employees from Engelselectrotrans, after which in December, EET employees asked to merge the enterprises and restore intercity route No. 9. ◼December 7, 2020 — trolleybus route #5 resumed service to the Ulitsa Zagorodneva terminal station after the reconstruction of the Trofimovsky overpass. The route introduced during the bridge repair became the new route #5a. ◼December 11, 2020 — Saratov Region Governor Valery Radayev instructed to develop a work schedule to restore service of trolleybus route #9 "Saratov-Engels". ◼December 23, 2020 — trolleybus route #7 resumed service after the reconstruction of the Trofimovsky overpass. ◼January 2021 — a draft order was published on the establishment of inter-municipal trolleybus route #109 "Saratov (Railway Station) - Engels (ZAO Trolza)". On March 17, the order was signed, the route of the future route was established and the maximum output was determined at 20 units. A tender was held for the arrangement of the contact network on the bridge with an estimated cost of 50 million rubles. The installation of the contact network is planned to be completed by July 1, 2021. ◼On July 2, 2021, after a 17-year break, traffic was restored on the intercity trolleybus route "Saratov (railway station) - Engels (Trolza)" under No. 109 (former 9). The cost of travel in cash within the city is 23 rubles, as on regular routes, intercity - 26 rubles. The route is served by "Saratovgorelectrotrans" and "Engelselectrotrans" jointly (10 trolleybuses each). There are 20 vehicles of 2 types on the line: low-floor trolleybuses "Megapolis" and semi-low-floor "Optima" produced by the Engels Trolleybus Plant. In addition to the vehicles operating on the route, one trolleybus is in reserve. Two weeks later, the restored line was used for the first time to ferry new trolleybuses "Admiral" from the Engels Plant of PC "Transport Systems" under its own power, delivered to Saratov (a batch of 10 vehicles out of a total order of 70 units).
