In Surah Fatiha, where the etiquette of prayer is also implicitly taught to man, the servant is first encouraged to ask Allah (cc) for guidance. The first question that probably comes to mind is this: Why does a person who prays because he is on the path of guidance ask Allah for guidance? Almost every scholar who has tried to explain Surah Fatiha has sought an answer to this question and each of them has tried to answer the question to the extent that Allah (cc) has made successful. These answers can be grouped under two headings: a. The majority of the ulama have said: This request is not directed at asking for guidance, but at steadfastness in guidance. With this prayer, the servant wants to say, ‘My Lord, keep me steadfast on guidance.’ b. Some scholars who have studied the subject in depth have answered as follows: Servitude is a situation that encompasses every area of life. A person’s finding guidance in general and being one of the people of Islam is not enough for him to be on the right path in every situation. In addition to universal guidance, there is partial guidance that we need at every moment of life and which our need is renewed in every deed. The servant asks his Lord for this guidance with his prayer. He is saying, ‘My Lord!
