The climb to Vega de Urriellu from Poncebos is one of the legendary routes in the Picos de Europa National Park. The itinerary follows the extremely difficult PR.PNPE-19 trail, due to the unevenness and the rugged terrain it runs through, mostly in high mountains. If you want to make the route a little more accessible, you can start the route in Bulnes and go up on the funicular from Poncebos. From Bulnes you climb up the Canal de Balcosín and the Canal de Camburero and access the refuge from the Traviesas Occidentales.
