Mount Meta (2241 m[1]) is one of the highest peaks of the Abruzzo Apennines, included within the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. It is located on the border between Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise: between the municipalities of Alfedena (AQ), Picinisco (province of Frosinone) and Pizzone (province of Isernia, at its foot is the Passo dei Monaci (1981 m above sea level). Often known by the feminine name Meta[2], it gives its name to a mountain range called Monti della Meta which from the Forca d'Acero pass proceeds towards the southern Comino valley and slopes down into the Liri and Volturno valleys taking the name of Mainarde in the lowest and most southern peaks.
