I did not start the “practice theory” series with basic theories, such as format and form in design. Although I have already partially covered them in the best-case scenario of the first lesson of the Graphic Design course at the Kharkiv State Academy of Art and Design. There will be a link above if anyone has not seen it. This is really important. But the thing is that knowledge of Mind Maps is needed for the next video in this section and I think that I will refer to this technique more than once. What are Mind Maps? One psychologist, his name was Tony Buzan, suggested writing down your thoughts in the form of a map, where the main task, question or word is placed in the center, and options for solutions, ideas or associations are written around it. This type of visualization of your thoughts helps to connect solutions and ideas from different branches, due to the fact that they are all in front of your eyes. And at the very least, it helps to find images not from the first circle of associations. What recommendations or life hacks for working with the Mind Map I want to highlight for you. First. If you noticed, then in parallel with writing down words, I immediately made small sketches. This helps a lot in the process of finding the final idea. Second. The words of the first circle of associations can be different. The physical properties of the product, the adjectives that can be used to describe it, the audience of the product, everything that you consider most important. And third. Try to develop your map to at least the third level of associations and look for solutions at the intersection of different branches. Let me show you.
