At Wednesday's state budget debate, EKRE MP and former Minister of Rural Affairs Arvo Aller considered it from the point of view of regional policy and found that this budget does not support rural life. "It is still necessary to name this budget with the right words, it is a budget of tax increases for the working person of Estonia, who has to fulfill it with the income of the state budget with his work and effort. What stuck in my ears was that the introduction of car tax increases support for disabled people. It's still - how can we get around it, maybe we could make another tax that would increase the support of some more people? I believe that the waitress may have made a slight mistake in her language. The car tax was certainly not introduced in order to increase support for the disabled. But we will mark what we will be adding from the new year. There will be an increase in income tax by two percentage points every half year, then VAT will increase, excise taxes will increase, and a completely new tax will be the motor vehicle tax, which everyone pays, regardless of whether you grew up in a large family or have your own electric car. Yes, in an urban area, this car tax may seem both to avoid congestion and to finance the green frenzy. But in rural areas, the car is a basic means of transportation, and as long as we do not have public transport or movement improved, we cannot accept the introduction of a car tax. This creates the possibility that with the introduction of a car tax, people will remain stationary, they will have less movement, the availability of healthcare will decrease, and people's livelihood will decrease. And based on that, their life expectancy will also decrease by that amount. And you won't get more money than that if you don't go out of the house. Then everyone can say that you use a courier service that brings food to your home, but where in the countryside do you get the courier service that brings food to your home. Now this cut budget must also be viewed with skepticism, because the principle of regionalism has been completely lost in the frenzy of cuts. In the regions and especially in the rural areas, state institutions are closed, which shows that the central government, or the current government, is actually not interested in what is happening in the rural areas. They haven't done any good with it either. Our regional and agriculture minister, who is in charge of the regions by name, has not made any good proposals in terms of what could be improved in the regions. If you also bring up the grants of the Just Transition Fund, which are presented as a great success story, which should create jobs in the context of Ida-Virumaa - this is a joke. If we create up to 1,000 jobs there, but we lay off 5,000 people from the oil shale sector, it will in no way create new jobs in the region. And if you also give a signal that the country will also lose financially by withdrawing the oil shale sector, both in the form of environmental fees and wage taxes as well as in the form of all other taxes, then the state itself is letting itself in the foot by taking away one source of income. At the same time, the expansion of nature reserves has gone on madly. One directive of the minister signs the expansion of nature parks, which is particularly difficult for the local government, because nature reserves are exempt from land tax and the state is currently not in a hurry to cover it with compensation. And here there were also some amendments with which it would be possible to compensate for the loss of land tax for nature reserves to municipalities. The finance committee did not support such an amendment. It also shows the hypocrisy of the government that we are now serious about making cuts. Being elected from Ida-Virumaa, you still look at your region. One of the examples is that the unemployment fund closes two service points, both in Kiviõli and Sillamäe, where a total of 1,000 people are customers. And these 1,000 people have to start driving to Jõhvi, 30 kilometers away, which causes additional costs for them. These 1000 people are sent to adventure in Ida-Virumaa so that they can show themselves to the unemployment fund. The closing of the Jõhvi courthouse from 2026 is especially grotesque, where a completely new building was built in 2011, where ideal conditions for work have been created. Its closure was supposed to save the state money enormously. At the same time, the Minister of Justice has not made much effort to ensure that the state is more on the ground in the region, and especially in such sensitive areas. This shows that the given budget has not taken into account the people of Estonia at all, and this budget cannot be supported."
