Doyle has earned a lasting place in world literature by creating the modern detective novel. His detective hero, Sherlock Holmes, who works with scientific methods, observes everything magnificently, and has iron logic, has become a legendary figure: his fictional home is now a museum, his large group of fans maintains an association, and novels and films are still written about him today. His loyal companion, Doctor Watson, the naive narrator of the investigations, is also the ancestor of a long line of detective novel characters (e.g. Agatha Christie's Poirot). Doyle wrote several volumes of stories about Holmes' adventures, and a few novels, the latter including The Devil's Hound, originally published in 1902. original publication: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes / Arthur Conan Doyle Budapest: Ifjúsági Lapkiadó, 1987 ISBN 963 422 934 4 OSZK: http://nektar.oszk.hu/hu/manifestatio...
