Dresden's main train station - a modern cathedral of transport - became a place from which new arrivals found a home, others were forced to leave it by the persecution of Jews in the Third Reich, and some returned to it. In the mirror of the tragedies of two world wars, life-threatening natural disasters and the peaceful revolution of the GDR, the most diverse fates and hopes intersect at this place. For more than 125 years, the arrivals hall has been a place from which people have sought a home. First they come from Silesia, later they are refugees from the east of the German Reich. Others have long since found it here and will lose it in dramatic fashion. In February 1945, the Jew Henny Brenner and her family are to be deported to a concentration camp. Later in the GDR, the legendary Tourex takes people to the Bulgarian position of the sun. But in October 1989, that comes to an end.
