The Manaslu Trek leads through one of the most remote and beautiful regions of Nepal. The film accompanies German hikers on the adventurous route around the eighth highest mountain in the world and provides exciting insights into the lives of the predominantly Tibetan mountain dwellers. Until a few years ago, mountaineers could only circumnavigate the 8163 meter high mountain with a tent and cooking utensils. Today there are numerous lodges along the route and the path is well marked. But the scenically fascinating Manaslu Trek is still a challenge for hikers: a 5106 meter high pass must be overcome, and avalanches sometimes thunder over the higher part. Many hikers also underestimate the length of the route, which is normally completed in 12 to 14 day stages.
