Argentine businessman and engineer Gustavo Pierini, 67, announced this month the largest donation ever received by the fund of the traditional Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP): US$ 1 million. But his story with educational philanthropy began well before that - and now he wants to encourage more and more people to offer this type of help. After visiting the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1987, Pierini decided that he wanted an opportunity to study abroad.
