Lecture by prof. dr hab. Ewa Pisula, Kawiarnia Naukowa 1a, May 7, 2015 [1h07min] https://wszechnica.org.pl/wyklad/czy-... There is an ongoing debate in science whether we should think of autism not as a disease, but in terms of certain features that many of us have - said prof. Ewa Pisula, psychologist and specialist in autism spectrum disorders, during a lecture at Kawiarnia Naukowa 1a. The speaker pointed out that some autistic features can be observed in people who have never been diagnosed with autism. Only their accumulation makes it possible to speak of an existing disorder. - At some point, they exceed such a level of intensity that they make it difficult for a person to adapt and cause them to need help. And this is how we very often think of autism today - said prof. Pisula. During her lecture, the psychologist described the history of autism research, starting from the first description of this disorder by Leo Kanner in 1943, through the groundbreaking research by Lorna Wing and Judith Gould published in 1979, to the present day. She spoke, among other things, about the problems associated with diagnosing this disorder, the risk groups at risk and the lives of people affected by it. Are we all a little autistic? The answer to this question can be found in the lecture by Prof. Ewa Pisula. We invite you to watch.
