The historicity of Jesus and the reliability of the New Testament reports How true is the story of Jesus? What evidence is there that this is not just a myth or a fairy tale? What clues can we find that support the reliability of the biblical texts? Prof. Dr. Dr. Roland Werner (Marburg) speaks about this in a way that is generally understandable using four "A"s: 1. Archaeology, 2. Eyewitnesses, 3. Authenticity, 4. Resurrection. At the end of the lecture, held in December 2018 in the "jesus-AG" in Ludwigsburg, he answers questions from the audience. In view of seemingly unsolvable questions, he recommends a "hermeneutics of humility" that has the courage to leave some questions open for the time being, especially given the fragmentary nature of our knowledge. He recommends an open, learning attitude that takes criticism seriously but does not position itself in a fundamentally hypercritical manner towards the Bible, as the best prerequisite for making progress on the question of the historicity of Jesus and the reliability of the New Testament reports. _______________________________________________________________________________ believethinking is an initiative of...
