About :

By 2030, it is expected that 125 million electric vehicles (EVs) will be on the roads of cities around the world. But where does the lithium that powers those batteries come from? Lithium is the lightest metal on earth, and most of it is buried underground in the salt flats of the Andes in South America. A large-scale lithium mining project is currently underway in the Argentine province of Jujuy. Meanwhile, this region is also home to the largest number of indigenous peoples in Argentina. In addition, despite being an arid region where water is scarce, large amounts of fresh water are required to refine lithium. This has caused anxiety and opposition among some people.
