About :

In this section of the Archives Room, we feature Adalet Ağaoğlu, one of the most important names in the world of Turkish literature, and considered one of the most important novelists of the 20th century. Adalet Ağaoğlu, who has written novels such as Ölmeye Yatmak, Fikrimin İnce Gülü, Ruh Üşümesi, and Dert Dinleme Uzmanı, is today 86 years old and talks about her life, works, and Turkey of those years in an interview with Ayça Abakan from BBC Turkish in London in the early 90s. BBC Turkish website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/turkce Facebook: / bbcturkceservisi Twitter: / bbcturkce ARCHIVES ROOM The first episode of the programme, jointly produced by Cenk Erdil and Aylin Yazan, began with a Zeki Müren interview from 1976, on 20 November, the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the BBC Turkish Service. BBC Turkish, which ended its radio broadcasts in 2011, is retrieving the voices of politicians, journalists, artists, academics, some of whom have passed away, some of whom have been forgotten over the years, and some of whom have become more famous, from the shelves of the archives and republishing them on a digital platform. Those who remember those years will have their memories refreshed, while some listeners may be hearing these voices for the first time through the Archive Room. The program, hosted by Aylin Yazan, will feature many different voices and publications, from İbrahim Tatlıses, who gave his first concert in London, to Levent Kırca, who recounts the early days of Olacak O Kadar, from Ajda Pekkan, who says she has difficulty producing cassettes, to Barış Manço, who came to London for treatment, from Altan Erbulak’s unknown passion for computers to the articles Sevgi Soysal has written for BBC Turkish. Names and journalists who have made a name for themselves in Turkish political life will also be in the Archive Room. From İsmet İnönü to Celal Bayar, from Turgut Özal to Süleyman Demirel, Bülent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan, from artists banned during the coup period to Ruhi Su, Orhan Gencebay, Cem Karaca and Rahmi Saltuk, and from businessmen Vehbi Koç and Sakıp Sabancı, names who have been guests on BBC Turkish Radio over the years will meet BBC Turkish followers again every week in the Archive Room.
