The first of the online seminar series "Designing Life for a 100-Year Life" presented by Caring Design Association is "A House with a Center," the home of architect Tsutomu Abe. Abe will personally guide us around his home as we explore the design of comfortable living in the era of 100-year life spans. Architect Tsutomu Abe is a first-class architect and CEO of Artek Co., Ltd. Born in Tokyo in 1936. After graduating from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University in 1960, he worked at the Sakakura Junzo Architectural Institute. In 1975, he founded Artek Architectural Institute with Jiro Murofushi. In 1984, he founded Artek. Since 2004, he has received the Japan Institute of Architects 25th Anniversary Award for "A House with a Center," "Gohongi House," "Utsukusigaka House," "Kagawa Toyohiko Memorial Matsuzawa Museum," "Stanley Electrical Engineering Institute," and "Sakuradai House."
