With lots of tradition and rituals, the Beeker family from Uelzen and the Wulff family show us how they prepare for the most beautiful festival of the year (links to the recipes and instructions below). Whether on a creative walk in the forest or in search of healing roots for colds, whether building a traditional arch of lights or visiting a blue printer, it is Advent! In the first episode, we are guests of the five-member Beeker family from Suelzen, who have created a true paradise for themselves in the Ellersdorfer Heide. This year, the friendly gardening family is once again preparing for their traditional "Winter Magic" in Advent and is inviting friends and colleagues to a big roast goose dinner. It is a busy time, both inside and outside. There is still a lot to do before everyone can sit comfortably at the laid table. And so quince bread is prepared, Mollebusch compote is cooked, roast goose is baked in the oven with Holdenstadt pineapple, place cards and tea lights are made from clay and the beautiful garden is transformed into a sea of lights. Grandfather Axel proudly shows off his latest invention: the fruit branch weight. The Wulff family from near Hude, who have fulfilled a lifelong dream with their old forest house from 1885, do a lot of handicrafts with the children, because the happy family places a lot of value on homemade things. And so, among other things, a stair garland and edible Christmas tree decorations for the forest animals are lovingly made by hand. While Father Wulff is outside repairing the pasture gate and planting a Benjes hedge, the rest of the family is preparing for the Christmas forest festival. Martina Schröder and Marion Vogel collect twigs, leaves, berries and branches during a walk in the forest, and then use the natural materials to make decorative items for the Christmas season. And for Doris Hesper from Himmelpforten, the cold season has its charm too. Because when nature seems to have nothing left to offer, the trained pharmacist knows exactly where to find helpful roots and herbs that give us strength when we have annoying colds. -- Recipes with instructions -- Quince bread: • Quince bread in Advent - the sweet treat...
