🇵🇱🏵 On May 3, 2024, at 12:00, we celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of the first Polish constitution. Every year, we continue this beautiful academic custom at the cornerstone of the Temple of Providence in the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw. 🇵🇱🏵 During the ceremony, we listened to a special lecture by Przemysław Wątroba from the University Library in Warsaw entitled "The Church of the Supreme Providence in Ujazdów - a national votum for the Constitution of May 3". –––– The location is not accidental - on May 3, 1792, 12 months after the adoption of the Constitution of May 3, senators and dignitaries of the Kingdom of Poland gathered in the Botanical Garden to solemnly lay the cornerstone for the construction of the Temple of Providence, led by King Stanisław August. This church, by virtue of a resolution of the Four-Year Sejm, was to be a votive offering for the adoption of the Constitution. During the ceremony, a brick fragment of one of the pillars of the planned temple was erected by the king and dignitaries, the construction of which was never completed. In this very place, to this day, we honor the memory of the creators of our first constitution. –––– Production and post-production: Robert Meronka, Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw
