We are once again guests at the Esslingen animal shelter and accompany the animal keepers in their daily work. They not only look after homeless dogs, cats and small animals, but also wild animals in need are cared for here. They also look for new homes for four-legged friends, birds and fish. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes a long time for adoptions to work out. 00:00 Newborns at the cat station Every time a cat is found or given up and it is not known whether it is sick or unvaccinated, the animal is taken to the quarantine station. Sandra looks after the velvet paws there – and she has her hands full. A half-starved Persian cat is being nursed back to health there, while a young cat family with four kittens also needs care. 05:17 Wild animal babies in need Jürgen Völker from the Mittlerer Neckar animal rescue service collects all kinds of found animals. These include wild animals, such as a small baby fox and baby ducks. The mother duck has built a nest on the balcony of an apartment building. Jürgen Völker can catch the chicks, but what about the mother? If he doesn't manage to catch her, the little ducks will have to be raised by hand. 10:35 Will puppy Chloe be adopted? Puppy Chloe came to Germany from Italy half-starved. But she won't stay in the Esslingen animal shelter for long. Rahel and Marc from Ulm have come to Esslingen to adopt Chloe. The animal shelter is supporting the two of them during the adoption process. And the young dog still has all sorts of crazy ideas in her head. 15:12 Everyday work in the small animal house The small animal house is a colorful place. Rabbits, birds, reptiles and amphibians have very different needs that the animal keepers have to meet. Veterinarians and animal rescuers come and go, and a romance is even brewing with the turtles.
