Aneta – known to many as Baba od polski – is a teacher, oligophrenopedagog, educator and owner of the company Baba od polski, which she founded 5 years ago to be able to do what she couldn't do at school, and eventually she gave up teaching at school altogether. Aneta was relatively recently diagnosed with ADHD, although at first she was a bit defensive about it and – interestingly – it had never occurred to her before that she had always gotten along so well with her neurodiverse students. But also, like most women diagnosed after the age of 30, her path to diagnosis led through years of therapy, depression, suicidal thoughts and self-harm. In this episode, we talk to Aneta about her personal experience, childhood trauma, lack of relationship with her own body and why she had to come to terms with certain issues for so long. But we also touch on topics related to education and discuss why Polish schools are so unfriendly to neuroatypical students. So I invite you to over 100 minutes of this – in places very intimate – journey into the world of women's neurodiversity.
