Every Amsterdammer knows the iconic Beurs van Berlage, but certainly not every Amsterdammer knows this building from the inside, just like all the special stories that are told about the Beurs. We are going to change that. We were given a tour of this special 'gesamtkunstwerk' by Berlage. And did you know that people also live in the Beurs? We were given an exclusive look inside one of these residents: Mrs. Meijer, who has lived in the 'penthouse' for 47 years. General manager Marcel Schonenberg and property director Kelvin van Nimwegen take us through the special building, which is also called a 'gesamtkunstwerk', which means an 'ideal interplay of all the arts'. Berlage was not only responsible for the design of the building, but also for the furniture, lighting and upholstery. Because every part of the Beurs is unique and actually a work of art in itself, everything is also lovingly and carefully stored in the attic, where there is also a small 'museum'. From furniture to stained glass panels, coat racks to parts of the safe, it's all here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are FC Centrum, a FanClub for our old city center.
