The U.S. State Department's Foreign Service Institute ranks Arabic as one of the 4 most difficult languages for English speakers to learn alongside Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Additionally, each Arabic-speaking country has its own very different dialect of Arabic, making it even more difficult to learn. I recently took up the challenge and spent 16 hours learning a colloquial form of Gulf Arabic from a Sudanese-Dubaian tutor, and then took to the streets of New York City's Arab neighborhoods that contain Arabic speakers from all over the Middle East. This video is my first time trying to speak Arabic with people in real life, and it was an amazing experience exploring these Arab markets and restaurants in New York and chatting with the locals. If you'd like to check out some of the markets and restaurants featured in the video, some of my favorites are: This AMAZING Yemeni restaurant Arth Aljanatain (seriously, really good): https://www.yelp.com/biz/arth-aljanat...
