In this video I decided to repurpose a couple of boards that were hidden in my yard for 7 years or so, one of which had a broken edge that gave me an idea to try something new. I made the top using white and grey cement reinforcing it with mesh, I also used Japanese joiners to make the table legs, I sanded the top with 220 grit sandpaper to expose more of the color combination and finished with 400 grit sandpaper. -Ingredients and proportions of the top mix: The typical cement mix is 1 part cement to 3 parts sand to 1 part water, it is the one that has the best resistance to cracks. The mix I used only has water and cement and the measurement is 1 part cement to 1/2 part water more or less, (I did it this way to get the colors to mix well and get a good marbling) I have another video where I explain how to get the marbling in more detail, and the colors are 1 part gray to 3 parts white or even 4. It is important to note that the more liquid (more water) the mix is, the less resistance the concrete will have and as a consequence it will crack more, that is why I emphasize when I put the reinforcing mesh that prevents it from breaking into pieces. In addition, the sand also helps to prevent cracks. Since the table I made is not that big (62 cm x 42 cm x 3 cm) I preferred the aesthetics more than the resistance, although it did crack a little but nothing to worry about.
