Become a pastor and work for the church today? Who does this job as a pastor in a parish? Someone like Stephanie Mages (36): She is a Protestant pastor in Nuremberg. Stephanie has many tasks in her job: She holds church services, funerals, weddings and baptisms. She also gives confirmation and religious instruction, organizes activities in the parish and is often called by relatives as a pastor when there is a death in the parish or a crisis situation in which she provides pastoral support. She also often has appointments in the evenings, an average of 10 a month, e.g. for church council meetings or emergencies. As a pastor, she has to be available to the parish around the clock - even in the middle of the night. Is this job also financially worthwhile? How much does a pastor earn in Bavaria? Stephanie has a small daughter and is a single mother. When she has evening appointments, she organizes a babysitter. Every other weekend her daughter is with her father. When Stephanie has a church service and Johanna is with her, Eberhard, a good friend of hers, sometimes looks after her daughter. That is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end of the day, the question is: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their careers and show their lives. Is it worth it to work for a salary and use it to finance your own life?
